Unless you actually are a local, in which case, you care very much about growing up and still living in a town that hundreds of people move to every year.
There’s a mentality in Steamboat from people who’ve been here for a while that’s very “look-down-your-nose-at-the-move-ins”. This seems to be a pattern in towns all over the Western US, and though this article doesn’t necessarily answer why some people care, it’s well written, and rather interesting.
